My name is Nkhensani (pronounced Ken-sa-ni), meaning “to give thanks” in XiTsonga, an official language in South Africa. I was born and raised in Tembisa, a large township in the East Rand, Gauteng Province. After graduating with an Honours degree in Sports and Recreation Management, I decided to take a break from books; five years of studying was no child’s play. I got my first ever job on a cruise ship in 2013 and it was then that I got the strong bite from the travel bug. This job gave me an opportunity to travel to the most amazing destinations in the world and have the most fun and personal fulfilling experiences I have ever had. Growing up in the township, I could not even fathom something like this happening for me. It was unreal. From that day on I have never looked back or stopped exploring.
I’ve had the privilege of visiting 31 countries, mostly islands. With my passion for travel and photography, I am continuously learning and developing my skills of capturing beautiful images using nature as my canvas.
Travel has not only humbled me but has also taught me that there are greater opportunities and experiences outside of “home”, our comfort zone. Travel has become my home.
They say “travel as much as you can and as long as you can because life is not meant to be lived in one place”.
I hope my journey inspires you to take a leap of faith and start your travel journey collecting moments and creating memories.
